April "One Little Word" blog hop...

Hello sweet friends,

"April is a promise that May is bound to keep"
-Hal Borland

'tis time for the "OLW" blog hop...

Set goals and action to paper
Shall I commit...

When and where
Shall I dare...

Do not tarry.
To go forward is to move toward perfection.
March on, and fear not the thorns, or the sharp stones on life's path.
-Kahil Gibran

My little altered journal is coming along. This is how the pages will look as they lay inside the journal.
It's not to late to play along, still time to fly want to join in...
Here's how Ali Edwards has a wonderful post about how to join, take a peek, go ahead, take a peek.

It was wonderful having you stop for a visit, thank you.  Nikki, www.inkyart.com.au is next on the list for your viewing pleasure.

XOXO
Catherine

So come with me, where dreams are born,
and time is never planned. Just
think of happy things,
and your heart will FLY on wings, forever, in
Never Never Land...

Look at me, swinging high into the air,
so young, so fearless...

And this is how the pages look within my album, which is really more of an altered journal using bits and pieces of vintage ephemera.  If you would like to see the beginning of this project, go here Come Fly With Me

Left page:   "scrap lifted" a concept from Betsy Samarco, design team member, Jenny Bowlin Blog
I created the faux vintage flashcards with my "OLW"  The little crystal blossoms are vintage, aren't they sweet?
Right Page:  Shopped my old stash and found, PHEOBE BasicGrey paper pad and for fun added a little strip of vintage lace.

Left page:  I snapped a photo of the beautiful sky, while standing in my front yard.  No embellishments, simple word strips.

Right page:  Was struggling with Ali's promt to include a full page self portrat when I remembered this black & white photo of me as a little girl and thought it would be perfect to capture my "OLW" FLY...

Gibson Girl...

noun
1.
the idealized American girl of the 1890s as represented in the illustrations of Charles Dana Gibson.
2.
of, indicating, or resembling the characteristic clothing of the Gibson girl, typically a high-necked, fitted blouse or bodice with full puff sleeves and a long skirt with a flared bottom and a tightly fitted waistline.
Origin:
1890–95, Americanism

Our last name was "Gibson" and my Mother loved to share stories and show me old pictures of
the "Gibson Girls"

And, as a little girl, these prints were hanging in my Mother's bedroom for as long as I can remember.
And now I am ready to hang them in my bedroom...
The prints are signed and dated, these two are Howard Chandler Christy 1905 prints. And thanks to Google I was able to learn quite abit about him. How wonderful is that?
Howard Chandler Christy (January 10, 1873 – March 3, 1952) was an American artist and illustrator famous for the "Christy Girl", similar to a "Gibson Girl".

A recent find...
Whilst out shopping for vintage treasures, my daughter found this delightful glass decanter with Gibson Girl etched upon it with gold lettering. Now how could I resist, I ask you?  It is now washed, cleaned and sparkles and sits upon an old French armoire.

Thanks for visiting, sweet friends...

xoxo

“I don't pretend to know what love is for everyone, but I can tell you what it is for me; love is knowing all about someone, and still wanting to be with them more than any other person, love is trusting them enough to tell them everything about yourself, including the things you might be ashamed of, love is feeling comfortable and safe with someone, but still getting weak knees when they walk into a room and smile at you.”  Anonymous

Don't believe what your eyes are telling you.  All they show is limitations.  Look with your understanding.  Find out what you already know, and you'll see the way to fly.    Richard Bach

My sweeet charm from Lisa Leonard  arrived with my "One Little Word" for 2012

Like many, I have the new iPhone 4s and am surprised and delighted with the camera quality. I also recently discovered a fun little book...
