Candy, Goblins and Ghosts, oh my!

So nice when Halloween falls on a Saturday night both for adults and the little "trick or treaters". We are off to a Holloween party at the Port Orchard Yatch club. DJ for dancing, costumes a must...lol and we are to bring Ghoulish appetizers.
I am bringing:
Guacamole Ghoul Eyes
1 ripe medium avocado
1 tablespoon minced jalapeno pepper
1 tablespoon lime juice
1/4 teaspoon garlic salt
16 cherry tomatoes
8 pitted black olives, halved horizontally

Mash avocado with fork in medium bowl. Stir in jalapeno, lime juice, and garlic salt.

Cut off top 1/3 of each tomato. With serrated spoon, scoop out seeds; discard. Fill tomatoes with 1 rounded teaspoonful avocado mixture. Center olive half in each tomato to resemble the pupil of an eye.

Our group of friends has decided we are attending the party as a gang of pirates...aaarg mateys! If I am brave enough I will post photos to give you all a little chuckle in your day. :)

My {View}...includes pumpkins, falling leaves, blustery trees swaying in the wind

Yesterday and Tomorrow...

Am continuing to enjoy the BPS class taught by Ali Edwards, Yesterday & Tomorrow.

This is part one of my Week Three layout assignment. We were to scrap six childhood memories within a two page format. I have finished my first page. This is turning out to be an amazing class filled with reflection and then the action of putting words to the photos. What fun I have had going through our old photo albums and looking at all the old photos, so many faded as the years have gone by. I am enjoying the simplicity of the layout design. Rather than lots of embellishments and fancy papers these layouts are simple with the focus being the photos + words. This is a project well worth my time and I believe will stand the test of time for my children and grandchildre. I hope they will know a little more about me and single moments from my life.

Enjoy your weekend...

At the last minute I...

signed up for an online class over at Big Picture Scrapbooking taught by one of my favs, Ali Edwards. The class is called Yesterday and Today and the focus will be on me, oh yeah. I shall be making one layout a week and by the end of class will have created 12 layouts. Thought I would share the two I made today, one digital and one paper "the old fashioned way". I am trying to listen to Ali's concepts so am not doing lots of embellishing and deviating from the class formula by choice. Pictures and words.....

I must admit I do so enjoy working with paper, glue and embellisments. I love the feel and the process of putting a page together.Creating digital pages are an entirely different experience, all done on the computer. So many choices for us now a days. Lovin the process...

Les belle fleurs...

I am so enjoying the Marie Antoinette Mail Art Group...
My latest swap was to make beautiful flowers out of ribbon, paper, or fabric. I choose to make mine with ribbon. I used Midori silk satin wired ribbon for my flowers. Thes are the flowers I made for the flower swap, they are now all in the mail and I can't wait to see what beauties I shall receive in return. Such a fun...
A delightful blue silver chiffon rose with green satin leaves await her majestyThree pansies composed all in ribbon and attached to another blue ribbon for display.
I wonder if Marie had pansies in her garden at Versailles? I have been fortunate enough to walk the garden at Versaille but do not remember seeing pansies.
""Just living is not enough," said the butterfly. "One must have sunshine, freedom and a little flower.""

Octobre c'est ici....

October, autumn, beautiful harves colors and, of course, Halloween..

I just participated in a delightful swap with the Marie Antoinette Mail Art Group called, "Royal Treat Bags". We were to each create a bag/box for our partner worthy of Marie filled with Halloween goodies which could then be used to decorate and create for Halloween. We had to stick to a Halloween color palette and so I chose orange, gold and royal purple. Very different for moi.
Take a peek...

Orange and gold Midori paper with Royal purple Midori velvet ribbon and a deep violet pink ribbon in satin as well.
A lovely velvet rose and some rhinestone bling.

The interior of the box was lined with Dupioni silk, gold braiding and velvet flowers. The picture of Marie has been digitally altered to incorporate the Halloween theme...lol. Look at the spider dangling from her hair.
Later in the week I will share photos of the "Treat Bag" I received from my partner, don't forget to check back and see more Halloween treats.
