Adieu sweet summer

"Summer afternoon - summer afternoon; to me those have always been the two most beautiful words in the English language." -Henry James...

Oh those lazy hazy days of summer...

Yes fall must come and the leaves will turn to fancy gold and red, but as for me I shall cherish this last glorious moment!Catherine

Words for the weekend...

Rhonna Ferrer, one of my favorite designers, is featuring The {21} Challenge on her blog...

In Rhonna's words:
"1. The 21 days of habit with
2. Art journaling I love and
3. Have daily motivational quotes that will kick me in gear."

I totally need the word "energy" as I plan to craft, and create this weekend. I am working on my Silver Bella "Holiday Fat Book" swap and my "Marie Antoinette Treat Bag/Box" swap as well. Using lots of lovely fabric, vintage lace, buttons, and beautiful Midori paper and ribbon. Will post photos soon, there in the word "energy" is of great importance...lol.
Enjoy your week and may your {View} be beautiful

What a ride....

Finally home from Arizona where I attended Creative Escape!
What a blast, so exhilerating, fun filled and inspirational. We had a wonderful group of teachers this year and the projects were simply amazing. Here are a few photos... In Marah Johnson's class
we created a lovely box filled with 12 little chipboard books. We worked with glimmer spray as a paint, over flocked paper, way cool. This is the inside of the box with all the little books so nicely decorated and organized. One book per month, what do you think?
A real favorite was Tim Holtz's
amazing project. A tiny suitcast filled with a grungeboard journal we made with tickets, altered floweres, metal charms. Just too cute for words!
And take a look at Carol Wingert's project...oh la la.
Paper architecture, a wonderful pyramid stucture with a place inside for a special treasure.
My heartfelt thanks to all of the amazing teachers, volunteers, and gal pals I met. I hope to post more projects as I finish them...LOL but also need to get busy on my Silver Bella swaps, oh my.

Creative Escape, here I come...

It is time to leave for Creative Escape
I have been busy creating little Thank You gifts for the teachers and for various swap hostesses and thought you might enjoy a sneak peek... I created decorated containers that have a ribbon holding a chocolate candy truffle bar from Seattle Chocolates. It is concealed until you pull up on the ribbon. I think these also make delightful party treats.
The color theme for Creative Escape is pink, lime green and this year a zebra pattern as well. I don't often work with zebra print, was a bit of a challenge.

This is for Tim Holtz and he is the tag "King" so I thought a tag would be fun to give him as well. He also uses "Greetings From......."postcards, so I again did a right back at cha with a "Greetings From Washington postcard attached to the tag.

I adhered a chocolate Space Needle to the back side of the card as well. Hope he gets a chuckle.

And finally here is a "candy slider" for Heidi Swapp...
I fly out of SeaTac tomorrow late morning, am like a kid waiting for Christmas to come, today seems extra long. Shall try to take lots of photos to share upon my return September 1st. In the meantime, take a moment and enjoy the view.

The house is empty...

If ever there is tomorrow when we’re not together..
there is something you must always remember.
You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem,
and smarter than you think.
But the most important thing is, even if we’re apart..
I’ll always be with you.

My heart is full....

August 2009, a moment to remember, our two children Michael and Cristina came home to the Pacific NW for a visit. This is the first time in over four years that I have had all our children and grandchildren together in our home at the same time. What a blessing!

Capturing the sweet memories...May the road rise to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face, the rains fall soft upon your fields, and, until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of his hand."
Irish Blessing

My {View}...has truly been rich, but now I must accept the parting that inevitably follows a visit
